Anonymous asked: hello ! should you pay attention to the US State Dept's travel warnings when going certain places? I am finding some really awesome deals for mexico however there is a travel warning for the country. thank u
Hi! Thanks for the question. I like to respect travel warnings, for the most part that is. I rerouted some travel plans in June, because of some travel warnings in a city I was connecting in. Although, a connection is usually short, my 13 hour over night connection made me nervous.
With a country like Mexico, I feel like there will always be a travel warning to certain parst. As long as the warning hasn’t targeted the specific city you’re visiting, I think you should be fine. A lot of the Mexican packages are all inclusive, which means once you’re in the resort you won’t be leaving for anything. Tourism is a major vein of the Mexican economy. The resorts will go out of their way to ensure your safety. If you go, make sure to book a shuttle service to the hotel. Once you’re there, don’t leave the resort for anything.
Now if you just want to travel around Mexico and not stay at a resort, I would not suggest that. Mexico is a wonderful country that I adore. I’ve been twice and had a great time both times. Regardless of your decision take travel warnings into account.
